 NOTICE

               I - Black History Month Program Co-Writer

                For the past 2 weeks, I have been assisting in the writing of a script that would be used in our school's Black History Program, which occurred just yesterday. (I DON'T KNOW IF I'M ALLOWED TO POST IT HERE.) I wrote a segment about the Harlem Renaissance, assisted in writing out its closing epilogue, and helped to organize the script where it was viable to be used for backstage crews (tech cues) and models.

                It was my first taste of actual scriptwriting which would be played out by actors but I realized that even as a writer, there are still lots of complications to be settled after the draft is done. Mass amounts of coordination, audio checks, and also stage direction to make sure an actor makes the line come out of paper are all things I got to experience for the first time. Given that I have a dream to create a visual novel one day, this sort of actual scriptwriting experience has provided invaluable insights to how ambition can challenge reality and how to make ends meet where even with parameters, a vision can be reached.

               Along with that, watching the BHM program live, especially its music section, really touched me to know that since I'm still rather new to the fine arts world, I realized that I'm merely still an observant to the gargantuan-ness of talent that fine arts hold. That little feeling of aspiration yet feeling so humbled in the same time with this onslaught of musical talent reach my ears - I hope it'll prove to be something that gives me inspiration for "The Midnight Songstress" (as seen in Larger Works) for years to come.

                II - White Christmas

               As mentioned in January, I submitted a prose piece I made in November called "White Christmas" and won the school-level YGA/Young Georgia Authors competition, marking as such as my first award-winning fiction piece. And just some days ago, I got the amazing news that I won the district-level YGA competition - where I will go on to represent 12th Grade Rockdale in the Metro RESA-level competition.

               However like previously stated, I cannot publish it to my portfolio due to contest rules and regulations. Most likely, I can post it once the contest is over (If I somehow go to state-level, then I can't post it then.). So sorry everyone - to not show one of my proudest works to you here!

               But...if you want to see it, I can freely show you a viewable copy of the story through email.

               Just email me at

               PERSONAL: gdblizzarx@gmail.com                                                                SCHOOL: 9jinsular@students.rockdale.k12.ga.us

              and if you would like, I would be MORE than happy to show it!

PERSONAL LIFE CONTENT

                 I am so sorry for my inactivity as of late, people. I'll say that my time absent has not been for anything unproductive regarding writing though! As of the past month, I have been reading A LOT instead. Like more than I have ever in my life!

         Some of the works I have taken up and ate are:

                      * STEINS;GATE

                                Arguably the best fiction story I've ever read.

                      * Patron Saints of Nothing

                                 Lil' book about the Drug War in the Philippines

                      * Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

                                 Still reading - renowned psychological horror

               OK - sure. It may not be a lot, I admit. But please note the fact that visual novels are incredibly long in length! Steins has 50 hours long. Higurashi is about 50 hours. WA2 (VN I read in the winter and inspired "White Christmas") was ~110 hours. Then I plan to read Higurashi no Naku Korn ni Kai (~60 hours long) and then the Umineko series (~130 hours long totaled). Previously, I didn't actually read much and just wrote more instead becuase I had a policy that if I were to ever read a visual novel (VN), I would binge it during break. But ever since reading STEINS, these stories have been absolutely marvelous to take in and can't help but to even read during schools days as well.

               While slacking on the writing department as a result, I haven't fully stopped up progress though. I am a writer for my school's Black History program now (put in charge of writing a segment about the Harlem Renaissance) and also, I have been brainstorming a lot about my story The Midnight Songstress given it's my comfort story (story I imagine when trying to sleep).

             So please - hopefully, you may forgive my lack of writing! I plan to make up for it with Zugzwang updates soon enough (or some other short story)!

Update on Larger Works

          Update on Midnight Songstress

  • Added synopsis, potential staff lineup, details, sample text, and author intention/goals.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

            Given my Regular Decision applications are done, I'll be working on scholarship essays here and there but other than, business should be back in full swing! Granted, I've been reading MUCH MUCH more since I found time to read a favorite medium of mines: visual novels. So far, I have spent hours on end reading 2 visual novels specifically: White Album 2 [Finished, took me 105 hours to read everything] and Steins;Gate [19 hours into it]. But trust in that I have more inspiration now and I'll be writing more commonly from this point on!

           I'm also still planning that organization overhaul but I'm still debating on how to do it but expect to see it soon.
